now as to your question about pix of johnny in the anacondas movie. . .if you are refering to the first 'Anacondas' movie (which i'm almost positive is what you're refering to) i'm sorry to tell you that johnny was ONLY in the 2nd anaconda movie so there are no pics of him from the first one  hope i didnt burst you're bubble or anything. . .trust me when
i say that i'm usually surfin the net (in my spare time) for pics of JM that i havent already seen myself

baby of the family. And his whole family stands behind him in his chosen career.

LOL i KNEW it, he seemed like he was the oldest (very protective like) plus i saw a pic of his brother on that episode of miami ink, and he definately looked

anywho, i absolutely promise never to ask anything too personal (seeing as you answered pretty much everything i really wanted to know) i really admire the fact that your bro really doesnt put all of his business out there for all the free world to see, i think it just makes him that much cooler^_^ that being said, i just have TWO more questions i was wondering if you could answer for me (again, if i'm being too nosy, feel free to ignore them) 1) i dont know why i forgot to ask this before. . .but what type of music does he listen to? like what are some of his favorite music artitsts/bands, etc? 2) does he have any special talents? like i remember once in an interview that he said he liked to cook but does he have any other hidden hobbies/talents
(besides acting of course:-P) like singing, dancing, playing an insturment, imitating ppl. . .just to give a few examples. . .lol

No problem at all! I love talking about my brother... both of them actually.... besides my son & hubby they are my pride and joy !! I just LOVE the fact that Johnny is adored by so many because I have adored
him for so long!!!! I'm glad I was able to answer your questions and to go further into the whipped cream thing? Not sure why he doesn't like it but
neither does our dad.... kind of funny! My mom and I like to torture them by putting extra whipped cream & cool whip on everything we can!
Johnny is one of the most down to earth people I know. He is honest, caring, family oriented and has never been "high on himself". He tells it like it is and if you don't like that.... well.... it is what it is!
You are definately not being too nosy... like I said, I love talking about him and letting everyone know the type of person he is/ his likes & dislikes, etc. So, on to your questions! Music... another tough one because he likes so many different types. I guess I'd have to say Hip Hop and Heavy Rock (like Nine Inch Nails). He also likes the classics and Led Zepplin was always his favorite growing up. He was also a huge Beastie Boys and Run DMC fan. In fact, in HS he and 2 friends performed "You Gotta Fight...." for our talent show! They did a great job and if I'm remembering correctly they won (but can't say for sure... that was over 20 years ago for me....). As for talent... if Johnny wasn't an actor I think he could be a stand up comic. Whenever he comes home I laugh from the time he arrives to the time he leaves. He tells (and has) great stories and is so animated when he talks. I also think he would be a great "voice" for many animated films and voice over type gigs so I would consider that to be a talent too. He does sing and he's very good. In fact when we were in HS I was the one who was more into drama/chorus/musicals and we both tried out for Grease (I had been in 2 musicals and he was always told he would be a great Danny Z because everyone thought he looked and acted like Travolta). Well wouldn't you know that he landed the part as Danny and I was chosen as Sandy! Pretty wierd when you consider the plot (although in our stage version of it there was NO romantic interaction- it was only insinuated). Well, being the awesome big brother that he is.... he stepped down from the musical and let me have my moment in the spotlight.... they cast someone else as Danny and that is a moment in our lives that I will never forget. That's the kind of person Johnny is and always has been. He was so cute too because he used to "practice" the songs with me (Summer Lovin') and he is the reason why I will always cherish my times spent on stage in HS. So, there you have it. That's Johnny! Let me know if you have any more questions... I'm always happy to answer them... and I TRULY appreciate you not getting too personal! That means a lot!

WOW!!! Thanks Lena for all the information on Johnny, it just confirms by opinion of this man. He is a great guy with a heart of Gold and cares very much
about his family. You do not see that to often in this day and age.
But i do have to laugh when you said that Johnny does not like whip cream. How could you not like whipcream. LOL!!!!! You forgot to mention that Johnny is also a good dancer. You said that Johnny likes to joke around I kind of figured that and it explains that devil look in his eyes. 
Be sure to let us know when Johnny's movie will be released cause I can not wait to see him again in a love story. Thanks again Fatcat |

Hi Tommy,
I enjoy your questions and love answering them so feel free to keep them coming! You haven't stumped me yet !
My family and my brothers are my world and I appreciate every day that I have the honor of bragging about Johnny. He has always been my best friend and I enjoy being able to share him with everyone. Believe me, there are downfalls to having two brothers and being in the middle (age wise)... they were very good at ganging up on me so if my younger brother and I got into a fight I always had to watch out for the older one! But the upside to that is not only was I always watched over by not 1 but 2 "boys in my life" I always got my own bedroom!!!!
So, on to your questions.... I don't remember Johnny ever being big into Michael Jackson. He was more a fan of Van Halen, ACDC, Black Sabbath, Rush and then the early Rap when it first came around. My favorite Johnny role... that's tough because I always like them all.... I'm really torn between Tears of the Sun and Running Scared. His death scene in TOTS still makes me cry and that role always meant something to me because of the story line behind that movie (the stories Johnny told us about some of the "extras" on the set who actually experienced those things first hand would send chills up your spine). Also the fact that our dad is retired Air Force and then to see Johnny playing someone in the military made it special. And Running Scared is now one of my favorite all time movies. I love mob/mafia movies so to have Johnny staring in one was like a dream come true for me (now if he can just get a part in a movie with Brad Pitt ...). I think that movie also had a very strong story line and was a lot deeper then people perceived it to be. As for the rest of the family, I'm not sure but I do know we all enjoyed him very much in Anacondas since that was the movie that we saw him on screen the most in. You mentioned that his characters are "believable".... you don't know how true that is. It's always funny for us to see some of his mannerisms come alive on screen. The most recent movie that got us all ROFL was "The Poker Club". The opening scene with him playing cards is priceless... I don't think he used the script for any of that because everything that he says is EXACTLY how he plays cards with us at home. If you haven't seen it then watch it... if you have then watch it again. The entire first 5-10 min where he's going back and forth with Jonathan Schaech (sp?) is the same way he talks to all of us when we're playing. That was absolutely priceless!!! Next question.... yes, I am aware that my brother is "easy on the eyes".... I've been told that about him all our lives. As for HS. He was VERY popular. All the ladies loved him and there were many times when I suspected girls wanted to be my friend and hang out with me just so they could say they went to "Johnny Messner's house". I wasn't always known by my real name but instead as "Johnny Messner's sister". He was Prom King his Jr. year and he played football from a young age all the way up through HS. A devastating knee injury his Sr. year on the field during a game prevented him from making a career out of football. He did have college scouts looking at him but he unfortunately had to go through what they called "career ending surgery". He took it pretty hard as he started playing when he was about 6 or 8 and football was ALWAYS his passion (still is but as a fan now). He also played soccer & baseball when he was young but he was bit by the football bug early and stopped playing the others during grade school. As for Johnny becoming a big name in Hollywood... believe me we all pray for it every day. It' a tough career and you have to learn to deal with rejection every day. It's very competitive especially right now with fewer and fewer roles available (mostly because of reality TV) but he keeps auditioning and trying to get whatever parts he can just to keep his name out there. He truly appreciates all the support and he does come on this site and read the messages when he has time. I don't know that he'll ever respond but I do know that he reads. Do I find it amusing that most of his fans are female? Not really. Johnny has always had a way with the ladies and more then anything I enjoy that he has so many of you on here talking about him and following his career. Johnny has always been one of my heros and one of the biggest influences in my life. I'm just glad that he can also be that for so many other people. Thanks again for your messages. I'll continue to check back as often as I can. Keep watching him and be sure to catch up on any of his movies that you haven't had the opportunity to see yet! Have a great weekend!

Howz it? (How are you?) Do you remember me? lol back in the summer i asked you like a bazillion questions about your brother, then as soon as school started, i got caught up in classes/work n stuff and i kinda havent been visiting this site as much as i used to (as much as i should) it just so happened that i was sitting in the middle of one of my boring lectures today when i started writing down some of the questions that i've been meaning to ask you for the past few months (as usual, i'll do my best not to pry and ask anything too personal, but i'm pretty confident that they're just general questions. . . . 1) is Johnny your brothers real/given name or is it more of a nickname that he uses? 2)i was wondering if you had any funny stories/memories about you and your brothers that happened when you guys were younger (or they could be more recent, its up to you :-) ) 3)i know this might be REALLY obvious and someone has probably already asked this question and its probably already been answered, but i just have to know. . . .*giggles* is your family Italian/Sicilian? *ducks flying objects* 4) this may be a bit weird to ask, depending on how well you know your brother (i know my siblings pretty well, so i figured i'd give it a shot) but back in high school, do you remember which subjects Johnny liked the most as well as which ones he absolutely hated? (kind of a random question i know) anywho, as usual dont be in any hurry to reply back ASAP as i've got mid-terms coming up so i'll be visiting the site maybe once a week until they're over. . .but i'll still be able to read your reply whenever you send it. Yes I remember you and I appreciate all your questions and wanting to get to know my brother better. Sorry you haven't been able to visit the site as much recently but school is more important so keep your head in the books and continue to study! Hope your surviving your mid-terms! Without me getting too personal- is this High School or are you in college? I'm sure the school system is different where you are (Japan, right?) but I just like to know what different age groups are fans of my brother. So- onto your questions and no, none of them are too personal, I'll do my best to answer them... 1- Jonathon Laurence Messner is his birth name, he added Michael after the Laurence (Laurence is our dad's name) when he was confirmed. He always went by John growing up (only our Aunt called him Johnny) and when he started out his acting career his agent recommended he take on the name "Johnny" to make it a little different from all the "John's" out there. When I talk about him I call him Johnny but when I talk to him I usually say John. It just depends on what flies out of my mouth at the time
2- Memories? Too many to list. Being the middle child and only girl it was always quite the scene in our house growing up. I have so many cherished memories of my brothers watching over me, protecting me and of course picking on me. One of my most cherished memories happened when we lived on a base in Italy (I was about 8 or 9 yrs old). I was a TERROR when it came to getting shots (still am). I literally used to run around the hospital being chased (no lie) by doctors and nurses because I hated them so badly. One time when I went in Johnny came with me and my mom. After I was finally "caught" I was lead back to the room and there was Johnny waiting for me. He sat on the "bed" (whatever you call those things in the Dr.'s office w/that funny paper) right next to me, held my hand, gave me a stick of gum all the while the nurse was pricking me with the needle! I had NO idea that I had gotten the shot until he looked at me and said "That wasn't so bad was it?". I will say that like most brothers and sisters we had our moments & quarrels- but I always say that I got the best of him. When I was 8 (I think) we were visiting our Great Uncle in between moves from England to Italy back in the states and he had a huge piece of property on Long Island (NY). So large that you could drive golf balls toward the canal and still have them land in his backyard. Well, my Uncle warned Johnny to back up as I was getting ready to swing but of course- he didn't listen. I swung that club so hard (and like a baseball bat) and WHACK! clobbered Johnny in the eye! It was a horrifying sight for me and I thought I blinded him. He was rushed to the ER and had to get stitches (I hit him on the upper eyelid thank goodness). To this day he still has a scar above his eye from that incident. And of course- most of my memories come from our years together in HS. This is when we really started to become best friends (and to this day that's still what I call him). I can't say that there is one memory that stands out (except for when he stepped down from the role of Danny and let me be the star in Grease- but I told you that one already) but what I can say is that he was the BEST big brother ever. He was very well liked in school (most popular) and was feared by the boys I dated. I had one boyfriend that I bought a gold chain for at Xmas and when he broke up with me a month later I asked for the chain back. After a few months had passed and I hadn't gotten it, I told my brother. Needless to say I had the chain in my hand the next time I saw him. It was things like that, that will always stick with me. He watched over me (as did all his friends- specifically the f-ball team). And to this day we continue to watch over each other. Wow! Long answer to that one, huh? (I could talk memories forever though)... which brings up a few more that are recent (within the last month)... My favorite all time movie is "A Bronx Tale" with Chazz Palmenteri- Chazz was performing it here on stage last month and since Johnny stared in "Running Scared" with him I thought he might be able to "help us" get tickets. Not only did my brother get us 5 tickets (my family & our parents) but they were FRONT row AND we were invited to the VIP after party and had the honor of meeting Chazz himself. (a moment I will never forget).... THEN I called him yesterday asking if he could get me a hookup for the PBR (Prof. Bullriders) event taking place here this weekend- within an hour he told me we have 5 tickets to Sunday's finals. It's things like this that he does for us, that he doesn't have to do, that make him the amazing person he is... and probably one of my fondest recent memories and moment when I was most proud of my brother was when we had the privelege of going to the Premier of Anacondas in L.A. back in 2006. To see him walk the red carpet, get interviewed by the press, have fans asking for an autograph and listening to the praises he was given after the showing.... that in itself was a moment that no other can ever compare to. Ok, onto the next question.... 3- Yes, we are part Sicilian. Our mom is Sicilian & Spanish (her mother was from Sicily and father was from Spain). Our dad is mostly German (with some English and other heritages in there as well). We are very proud of being part of all 3 nationalities- no need to giggle or duck flying objects, this is actually a great question and one that I am more than proud to answer! 4- Subjects in HS..... P.E., Study Hall and Football (I know- not a subject but it was his passion)- those are what he loved. As for his not-so-favorites... English, Math, Science, History (kind of covers the big 4 huh?). Johnny was 100% devoted to sports and was very much a jock. Although he passed every class and did as well as any other average student- it was his performance in football and athletics that got him through most days. I think that answers them all.... keep them coming as you think of more... you should probably be paying attention in those classes instead of jotting down "Questions about Johnny"... but I like the fact that you're thinking of him. checkin out his work ever since :-D like other ppl have said before, he's truly an amazing actor and looks so real and natural in front of the camera, one
of the things that really impresses me is how versatile he is (he can play the good guy, bad guy, in the middle guy, be funny, be serious,etc) no matter what
his character is ALWAYS believable, ya know?
(you guys must come from a very attractive family) and he
definately seems like the athletic type, and with him being multi-talented and all, i was wondering if he was really popular back in high school? and also did
he play on any sports teams in HS as well?
